Why does a seed need a parachute?

Dandelion hairs slow a seed’s fall. Without sideways wind, it lands near its starting point.
Gentle wind
Turn on the wind. As the seed falls slowly, moving air carries it sideways.
Stronger wind
Increase the wind and compare landing points. From the same height, this seed travels farther. This helps plants spread.
