How does a crystal grow?

Solution
A substance is dissolved in water. Its particles have not vanished; they are spread among water particles.
Evaporate some water
Some water evaporates, but the dissolved substance stays. The solution becomes more concentrated.
Grow a crystal
When the remaining water cannot keep all the substance dissolved, particles can join a crystal in an ordered arrangement.
