Large holes
Our mixture has large and small particles. Both fit through large holes, so the mixture is not separated yet.
Medium holes
Choose holes between the two particle sizes. Small particles fall through; large ones stay above.
Small holes
Very small holes catch both parts. Choosing the right sieve size matters.
For adults · discuss together
Particles are rigid spheres. Clumping and irregular grain shapes are ignored.
Before experience
Ask: “What do you think will happen?” Let the child check his guess first.

What has changed? What remains the same? Where can you notice a similar phenomenon?
