Veda · OUT OF PURE CURIOSITY
Why do stars form patterns?
Front view · Side view · Restore the pattern
Front view
From one viewpoint, stars make a recognisable pattern. Imaginary lines help us see it.
Side view
Look from the side: the stars are at different depths. Neighbours in our sky are not always close in space.
Restore the pattern
Return to the original viewpoint and the pattern reappears. Constellations help people find their way around the sky.
For adults · discuss together
This invented star group explains perspective. The connecting lines do not exist in space.
Before experience
Ask: “What do you think will happen?” Let the child check his guess first.
After the experience
What has changed? What remains the same? Where can you notice a similar phenomenon?
