A magnet can attract objects
A magnet can pull some objects towards itself. It works even through a small gap of air. He doesn't need to touch the object first.
Our paperclip is made of steel with iron. There are tiny areas inside the iron that look like little magnets. Near the magnet they begin to act more cooperatively - the paperclip is attracted.
Select a paperclip and click "Check Item". The magnet is fixed here. Therefore, a paper clip moves towards him, but he remains in place.
Will the tree be attracted?
The tree has a different structure. It does not have such small magnetic areas as in iron. Therefore, our magnet does not pull up the wooden cube.
It's not about the size of the cube. Even a small sliver of wood will not go to this magnet on its own. What matters is what the item is made of.
Click the check button. The cube will sway a little, but will not get any closer to the magnet. This is a sign: we checked the tree and it didn't attract.
A plastic button?
Plastic is also structured differently than iron. Our magnet cannot noticeably attract a plastic button. She'll stay put.
A magnet does not pull everything, or even any metal. For example, iron is attracted, but copper is not attracted to a regular magnet.
Compare paper clip, wood and plastic. Objects next to the same magnet, but the result is different. So it's a matter of what they're made of.
